It starts as a toothless little gnawer that chews on its own paws and tail, and it grows into a vain, whiskered giant that judges its packmates by their beards. In Roco Kingdom, Lutty, Lutrail and Lutusk form a balanced Common and Water line whose trait rewards you for keeping things cheap. Build it with low-cost skills, and its defenses shoot up by 80%. Here is how the line grows and how to use it.

The evolution line

  1. Lutty (No. 036): It gnaws on anything within reach, including its own paws and tail. Look closely inside its mouth and you will find no teeth at all, only soft, bare gums.
  2. Lutrail (No. 037): Now equipped with razor-sharp teeth, it loves gnawing on sturdy wood. Its palms are tough and calloused. When it rubs its face, it is not cleaning itself but using its rough palms to grind its teeth.
  3. Lutusk (No. 038): Very particular about its looks, it grinds its teeth every day and conditions its whiskers with natural oils. Bushy whiskers and sharp teeth decide its rank in the pack, so some Lutusks even wear fake beards made of dry grass. It generally prefers to avoid Rocos.

All three stages are Common and Water class and share the same trait.

lutusk

Trait: Conservative

Conservative raises Physical Defense and Magic Defense by 80% when the total Energy Cost is less than 4.

To get the boost, keep the line’s skill costs low. With cheap skills, it becomes far tougher than its base defenses suggest. Packing expensive skills turns the bonus off, so plan its moveset carefully.

Stats at every stage

Here is how Species Aptitude grows from stage to stage:

  1. Lutty, 355 total: HP 73, Physical Attack 57, Magic Attack 57, Physical Defense 60, Magic Defense 60, Speed 48
  2. Lutrail, 477 total: HP 97, Physical Attack 77, Magic Attack 77, Physical Defense 81, Magic Defense 81, Speed 64
  3. Lutusk, 595 total: HP 121, Physical Attack 96, Magic Attack 96, Physical Defense 101, Magic Defense 101, Speed 80

This line is perfectly balanced. Its Physical and Magic stats are equal at every stage, so it can use either kind of attack and handle both kinds of hit. Lutusk’s 121 HP and 101 in both defenses, boosted by Conservative, make it a strong, steady tank.

Size and capture details:

  1. Lutty: 0.37 to 0.53 m, 6.7 to 7.5 kg. Gives 16 Starlight and a 1,200 Roco Coin base review reward.
  2. Lutrail: 0.61 to 0.88 m, 28.6 to 31.5 kg. Gives 28 Starlight and a 2,100 Roco Coin base review reward.
  3. Lutusk: 0.76 to 1.08 m, 76.5 to 90 kg. Gives 40 Starlight and a 3,000 Roco Coin base review reward.

Class effectiveness

When attacking:

  1. Common skills deal ×0.5 damage to: Earth, Shadow and Mech
  2. Water skills deal ×2 damage to: Fire, Earth and Mech
  3. Water skills deal ×0.5 damage to: Flora, Ice and Dragon

When defending as a Common / Water Jini:

  1. Takes ×2 damage from: Flora, Electro and Fighting
  2. Takes ×0.5 damage from: Fire, Shadow and Mech

All other matchups deal normal ×1 damage. Its Water skills cover the Earth and Mech Jinies that resist Common attacks. Fire and Mech opponents are ideal targets, since Water hits them hard and their attacks only deal half damage back.

Where to start

  1. Evolve Lutty all the way to Lutusk. Its total Species Aptitude climbs from 355 to 595.
  2. Keep the total Energy Cost under 4 to turn on Conservative’s 80% defense boost.
  3. Use Water skills as its main attacks. They hit Fire, Earth and Mech hard, and Common skills are resisted by Earth and Mech.
  4. Choose physical or magic attacks freely, since its stats are perfectly balanced.
  5. Switch out against Flora, Electro and Fighting attackers.
