After four years of development, Qloud Games has officially launched Loftia into Steam Early Access, opening the doors to its long-awaited cozy MMO on PC and Mac. Unlike many online games built around combat and competition, Loftia focuses on cooperation, creativity, and building a shared world alongside other players.
The launch follows a successful Steam Next Fest demo, where the developers reported that nearly 150,000 players tried the game. According to the studio, Loftia also became one of Steam Next Fest's most-played demos and briefly ranked as the most-watched game on Twitch during the event.
A Different Take on the MMO Formula
While many MMOs revolve around leveling, raids, or PvP, Loftia takes a slower and more collaborative approach.
Players arrive in a world of floating islands where they can:
- Build and decorate their own homes
- Grow crops using sustainable farming systems
- Rescue animals
- Gather crafting materials
- Join cooperative Adventures featuring puzzles and platforming
- Participate in large-scale World Projects shared by the community
Rather than encouraging competition, the game is designed around neighborhoods, shared progression, and long-term community building.

What's Included in Early Access?
Compared with the Steam Next Fest demo, the Early Access version significantly expands the playable content.
Players can continue the main storyline beyond Loftia City, unlock the new Hanging Gardens district, experience additional narrative quests, build larger homes, customize their neighborhoods, and access gameplay systems that were unavailable during the demo. Character progress made during Next Fest also carries over into Early Access for returning players.
Qloud Games says Early Access is intended to be a collaborative development phase, with future updates adding new regions, gameplay systems, customization options, quality-of-life improvements, and additional community-driven features based on player feedback.

Why Loftia Has Been on Players' Radar
Loftia first attracted attention through Kickstarter, eventually raising more than US$1.3 million with support from roughly 17,000 backers. Since then, the project has spent several years in alpha and beta testing while gradually expanding its community.
Its optimistic "solarpunk" setting also helps distinguish it from many recent survival and life simulation games. Instead of post-apocalyptic worlds or resource scarcity, Loftia imagines a future built around sustainability, renewable technology, and cooperation.
That direction has made it one of the more closely watched releases among fans of cozy games and life sims throughout 2026.

Early Access Is Just the Beginning
Qloud Games has emphasized that today's release marks the beginning rather than the finished version of Loftia.
As the developers continue expanding the game's world and systems, community feedback will play a central role in shaping future updates throughout Early Access. For players looking for a slower-paced online experience centered on creativity instead of competition, Loftia is one of the year's most notable new MMO launches.
