Most Jinies evolve one way. Gemslug lets you pick. In Roco Kingdom, this crystal-bearing Light and Earth Jini is known for refracting light, and miners love having it around. What it eats shapes what it becomes: feed it crystals of a certain color, and it evolves into a Gemlord of the matching color. Here is how to get all six variants.

Meet Gemslug

  1. Codex number: 039
  2. Class: Light / Earth
  3. Trait: Polarization: Takes 40% less damage from attacks that share a class with any skill Gemslug carries.
  4. Species Aptitude: 466 total
    1. HP: 79
    2. Physical Attack: 77
    3. Magic Attack: 81
    4. Physical Defense: 102
    5. Magic Defense: 75
    6. Speed: 52
  5. Size: 0.54 to 0.77 m tall, 5.8 to 10.53 kg

Polarization fits Gemslug’s playstyle well. Pick its skills carefully and it shrugs off attacks from the classes it uses itself.

How crystal evolution works

  1. Raise your Gemslug to level 40.
  2. Find crystal spots around the world. Crystals come in four colors: blue, purple, yellow and black.
  3. Have your Gemslug eat the crystals. Each Gemlord variant needs a different combination.
  4. Once the right combination is reached, Gemslug evolves into the Gemlord variant that matches those colors.

The Skylight skill’s description hints at the rule: researchers believe the magic inside each crystal closely resembles that of the Gemlord with a similar color.

All six Gemlord variants

  1. Gemlord (Melotourm Variant): 3 blue crystals. This is also the only variant you can catch directly in the wild.
  2. Gemlord (Pinkorite Variant): 3 purple crystals
  3. Gemlord (Starnet Variant): 3 yellow crystals
  4. Gemlord (Lavaglow Variant): 3 black crystals
  5. Gemlord (Azurtoite Variant): 3 blue crystals and 3 purple crystals, 6 in total
  6. Gemlord (Cobaltgold Variant): 3 each of three different crystal colors, 9 in total

All six variants keep Gemslug’s Light / Earth classes. The variants differ in look and stats, while their core skills stay the same.

Gemperor: the boss form

Every Gemlord variant also has a Gemperor form, a boss version with its own matching look. It only appears in battle: applying evolution power to a Gemlord with the boss bloodline turns it into Gemperor for that single fight.

Where to start

  1. Catch a Gemslug and decide which Gemlord color you want before you feed it anything.
  2. Level it up to 40 so it is ready to evolve.
  3. For a single-color variant, stick to one crystal color until it has eaten 3.
  4. For Azurtoite, collect blue and purple crystals. For Cobaltgold, mix three different colors, 3 of each.
  5. If you only want Melotourm, you can skip collecting crystals and catch one directly.
  6. To collect all six, raise several Gemslugs and give each one a different diet.
