Running into a Jini that looks a little off, hits far harder than it should and shrugs off your attacks? You've met a Nightmare Jini. These Jinies have been twisted by Nightmare power, which makes them tougher to beat, but with the right approach you can capture one and even keep its rare Nightmare-altered look. This guide walks you through finding, fighting, capturing and raising them.

Where to Find Nightmare Jinies

Nightmare Jinies gather around Nightmare Altars, ritual sites set up in the wild by the Nightmare Order.

  • Watch your Stardial: It reacts when you get close to an altar. Use it once you arrive, but expect a demanding battle.
  • Gather Violetfinch: This plant grows around the altars, so pick some up while you're there.
  • Trapped in the Nightmare Realm? The Eerie Chalice is believed to help sustain the realm. Hitting it with Starry Magic is a possible way to break free.

How to Beat a Nightmare Jini

Every Nightmare Jini is protected by a shield that soaks up incoming damage. Until it breaks, most of your attacks won't land properly, so focus on breaking the shield first.

Here's how their stats change:

  • HP and Speed: Same as a normal Jini.
  • Attack: Physical and magic attack can rise as high as 2.8x.
  • Defense: Physical and magic defense can rise as high as 2.4x.

In short, they aren't faster or bulkier in HP, but they hit much harder and take hits much better. Bring a sturdy main team rather than underleveled Jinies.

How to Capture Nightmare Jinies

  1. Break the shield: Bring the shield down before anything else.
  2. Hold your Pods: Pods won't work while the Nightmare power is still active, so don't waste them.
  3. Wait for the power to fade: Once the Nightmare effect wears off, the Jini can be captured.
  4. Time it for the rare look: Throw your Pod while traces of the Nightmare-altered appearance are still visible to keep that unique look on your new companion.

Tip: Collectors should pay close attention to step 4. That short window is your only chance to lock in the special appearance.

Corrupted Bloodline: Purify or Keep It?

A captured Nightmare Jini comes with a Corrupted bloodline, which locks its skills so they can't be changed. You have two options.

Option 1: Purify it

Use a Purifying Elixir to remove the corruption and restore a normal bloodline, unlocking its skills again.

Purifying Elixir recipe:

  • 5x Wishpower Shard
  • 5x Magical Dust
  • 10,000 Roco Coins

Wishpower Shards come from releasing Jinies with a Corrupted bloodline, so duplicates are a good source.

Option 2: Keep the corruption

If you like the corrupted form, try Nightmare Snare, a Resonance Ritual taught by the Eye of Nightmare. It rerolls the Jini's skills and boosts its stats while keeping the Corrupted bloodline.

Which should you pick? Purify if you want full control over skills. Choose Nightmare Snare if you're happy with the form and want extra stats.
