Your next dungeon run does not have to be a solo adventure. Scramble Knights Online brings Zelda-inspired quests to a shared online world, where you can explore with up to three friends and return to a town full of other knights. Funktronic Labs launched the action RPG in Early Access on October 26, with Steam, Xbox and Xbox Game Pass listed among its launch platforms.

Take your friends dungeon crawling

You start as a knight-in-training in Terracott, an archipelago of small towns, dangerous creatures and puzzle-filled dungeons. The idea is straightforward: pick a quest, head out, collect your rewards and come back stronger. It is a familiar adventure-game loop, but this time your friends can come along.

There is more to a trip than clearing a room of enemies. The game mixes exploration and dungeon puzzles with top-down action combat, including encounters with electric slimes, rock-throwing crabs and much larger bosses. Different weapons and abilities give you room to experiment with how your knight fights.

A good run ends at the forge

Loot is not just something to sell before the next mission. Quests reward gems, crafting materials and equipment, while exploration gives you more resources to bring home. You can put those supplies into new weapons, armor and upgrades rather than sticking with your starting loadout.

That makes the return trip part of the appeal: check what you have collected, decide what to improve and take the new build back into the world. The official screenshots show both a quest board with mission rewards and a forge with equipment upgrade paths, giving a useful look at how that progression is presented.

More than a four-player lobby

Your party can contain up to four players, but Terracott is a shared online setting rather than just a private room for your group. You can meet other knights during an adventure, then head to the Town Square to find company for the next one.

The town is also where you can upgrade equipment, show off your character and fish with friends. That social stop between quests is a big part of the pitch: somewhere to spend time together, not simply a menu between dungeon runs.

You can choose to fight other knights

Cooperative adventuring is the focus, but the game also has faction PvP. Joining a faction lets you opt into fights against other players. That distinction matters if your group is coming for monsters and puzzles rather than constant player-versus-player combat.

Players who remember the earlier Scramble Knights Royale name should also note the change in direction. This is the shared-world action RPG version of the project, not the old battle-royale pitch about being the last knight standing.

Where to start

Scramble Knights Online is in Early Access, not its finished 1.0 release. It is worth approaching it as a game still being developed rather than assuming every planned feature is already complete.

For a group looking for smaller-scale adventures, the attraction is easy to understand: grab a quest, take on a dungeon together, then bring the loot home for another round of upgrades. Solo play is supported too, so you do not need to assemble a full four-person party before starting.

Check the PC version on Steam.
